Being the leader in advocation for lung health, Breathe California works to improve the quality of life for lung disease in all forms. Programs include:
Tobacco Control Program: Breathe California has many different tobacco-based programs that covers both prevention and treatment from the effects of tobacco use.
Clean Air Program: Air pollution has been one of the major causes of lung diseases and we address this growing health threat through a variety of programs.
Asthma Services: Asthma has been known as the leading cause of chronic illnesses in children and we aim to reduce the burden of asthma in the community.
Educational Programs: We educate members of the community about lung disease—risk factors, management techniques, and how to help others suffering from lung disease.
Sleep Apnea Machines/Equipment Provision: Our equipment provision program connects patients in need with donated respiratory equipment.This includes C-PAP/Bi-PAP machines to treat sleep apnea, peak flow meters, nebulizers, air purifiers, etc.
Research Program: We are committed in funding and supporting research grants, scholarships, and community assessments as a method in reducing the impact of lung diseases in our community.
Every summer, Breathe California offers a week-long asthma day camp - Camp Superstuff, held within the region served by Breathe California of the Bay Area. Designed for children 6-12 suffering from asthma, Camp Superstuff blends asthma education curriculum with traditional summer camp activities.
Ash Kickers is a six-session smoking cessation program. The program helps smokers travel through the various stages of quitting, which include thinking about quitting, preparing to quit, finally quitting, and preventing relapse. The program also incorporates tobacco education, group support and tools for maintenance as part of a comprehensive effort to help smokers kick the habit.
